Why Get Stressed?

     These days, everyone seems to be stressed out about something.  Why is that?  Stress is a choice that we make.  We can choose to let something go, knowing that we can't control it, we can choose to say no when we have too much on our plate already and we can choose to leave our job if we are being stressed out about it.
     And yet, we don't seem to make those choices.  Why is that?  Many people have become addicted to stress.  They set high standards for themselves and then stress about how they are going to get it all done.  We have forgotten how to ask others for help when we have taken on too much, or we are afraid to add stress onto them and so we don't ask when we need help.
     Stress creates chemical reactions in our bodies that studies show are linked to all sorts of physical problems.  And yet we continue to do stress.  Yes, we continue to choose to be stressed out.  Many turn to yoga, meditation, and yes, I use hypnosis to help people with stress.  These are all just temporary fixes, rather than addressing the parts of our life that are making us stressed out to begin with.
     Life is a series of choices.  Each minute we are making choices and yet often we don't stop to think about what those choices really mean in our lives.  We choose a job that we don't like, because it will be more money now and when we retire.  And yet we don't stop to think about the stress the job will create and how it will alter our lives.  Why?  Because we are taught and marketed to, that money makes life more enjoyable.  How much money do we have to have in order to enjoy life?
     I invite you to ask yourself that question.  And at what cost to your health and well being?  How much stress are you willing to take on?  Is it really worth it?  Are there other choices you can make that would alleviate some of the stress in your life?  Give it some real thought and see where you can make improvements..........
